The Council on Women in Energy & Environmental Leadership (CWEEL) is a division of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) intended to support the role of women within the energy and environmental sectors.

Since 2007, CWEEL has been committed to advancing gender equality in a historically
male-dominated industry. Its members gain valuable access to a network of professional
peers and mentors, career advancement opportunities, and leading-edge technical training.
With the support of CWEEL and its women members, AEE supports a greater diversity of
experience, talent, and ideas across our industry.

CWEEL Purpose, cweel.org

In support of the CWEEL purpose, the mission of the CWEEL organization and its members is to support career development for professional women through mentorship, networking, and scholarships.

Membership in CWEEL is managed Nationally/Internationally through the parent organization. If you are interested in membership to be eligible for mentorship, networking and scholarships outside of the Canada East region please register through AEE. Note that membership in CWEEL is an add-on to membership in the AEE.

As a chapter of the AEE, the AEE Canada East hosts the local CWEEL Group. Participation in the local CWEEL activities does not require membership with CWEEL at the National/International level or membership in the AEE Canada East chapter. However, without becoming a formal member, member benefits are not available.

Locally, the CWEEL group is led by the following team.

Anna Harman, PMP, EIT
CWEEL Lead
Heike Schreiber
CWEEL Champion
Afaf Azzouz, P.Eng., BEMP, MSc
CWEEL Champion
Jana Giles
