A key mandate of the AEE Canada East is to give back to the energy engineering community by supporting students who have chosen to study for degrees/diplomas related to or in support of clean energy, energy efficiency, and climate change mitigation.

To date, the AEE Canada East chapter has established endowed scholarships at Carleton in Ottawa, UNB in Fredericton, and Concordia in Montreal.

Scholarship recipients for each award are included below.


First awarded for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The AEE Canada East founders scholarship at Carleton is awarded to two students in the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering degree program. One student will be studying in the electrical stream while the other will be in the mechanical stream.

First awarded for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The AEE Canada East founders scholarship at UNB is awarded to a student in either 3rd or 4th year studying in the J Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship. The recipient will be selected based on their innovation focus related to energy, resilience, or decarbonization.

The AEE Canada East Founders Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Innovation at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science (Gina Cody School).

In addition to the locally established scholarships, the Association of Energy Engineers offers a number of scholarships available to AEE members through the AEE Foundation.
